Dados - Revista de Ciências Sociais is a quarterly publication of the Instituto de Estudos Sociais e Políticos (IESP) of Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (UERJ) aiming at publishing original and cutting edge articles in the area of social sciences. Published from 1966, Dados is one of the most traditional and important journals of Brazilian Social Sciences. Quarterly since 1981, is part of the first group of eleven journals that joined in 1996 the Science Electronic Library Online (SciELO), the most important vehicle for the dissemination of Brazilian science, becoming the first journal of Humanities and Social Sciences to be part of the project. The journal's leadership is also nowadays. It is one of few Brazilian journals of social sciences indexed at the Institute of Scientific Information - ISI (Thomson Co), and has been classified as A1 (maximum rating) in eight areas of knowledge in the classification of Qualis/CAPES updated in 2012.

Dados is conscious of the need to review manuscripts in a manner that is both rigorous and reasonably expeditious. Manuscripts are always subject to evaluation of two or three members of our Scientific Council, composed by the Editorial Board, the Advisory Board and external reviewers. The journal's abbreviated title is Dados, the form that should be used in bibliographies, footnotes, and bibliographical references and strips.
