ABOUT THE JOURNAL

 

Basic information

The Revista Brasileira de Ciências Sociais (RBCS) is published three times a year since June 1986 by the ANPOCS – Associação Nacional de Pós-Graduação e Pesquisa em Ciências Sociais (Brazilian association for research in the social sciences field).

The journal has consolidated its performance as one of the main Brazilian publications in the area of social sciences, reaching a wide thematic and conceptual diversity. It publishes not only Brazilian authors, but also contributions of renowned foreigner social scientists. The journal presents a growing acceptance and prestige, having 848 subscribers.

ANPOCS is a non profit-organization founded in 1977 with the objective to join and represent research centers and graduate programs in the social sciences field.

Beginning with fourteen centers and programs, presently it associates 61 institutions which deal with sociology, anthropology and political science. Unlike other scientific associations, ANPOCS affiliates institutional members, and not individual researchers.

In addition to the Revista Brasileira de Ciências Sociais, ANPOCS also publishes the bulletin Informe ANPOCS, the yearbook Ciências Sociais Hoje, the Revista Brasileira de Informação Bibliográfica em Ciências Sociais (BIB), as well as two awarded theses each year.

The abbreviated title of the journal is Rev. bras. Ci. Soc., which should be used in bibliographies, footnotes, bibliographical references and strips.
