Basic information

História (São Paulo) is one of the oldest publications among the periodicals edited by Unesp publisher. It was first published with this title by the university in 1982, after the merger of two other periodicals at that time: Anais de História was annually published by Faculdade de Filosofia, Ciências e Letras de Assis; and Estudos Históricos was published by Faculdade de Filosofia, Ciências e Letras de Marília. The former was published from 1969 to 1977 and achieved 9 editions. The latter was created in 1963 and achieved 16 editions up to 1977.
Afterwards, in the 1990s, the two campus of Unesp that still had History course (in Franca and Assis) were responsible for three periodicals: Pós-História (journal of post-graduation program in History of Assis), Estudos de História (journal of post-graduation program in History of Franca) and História journal (under the responsibility of both programs). In 2006, it was decided that the journals of each program would end in order to create only one periodical. Thus, since 2007, História journal became the only official periodical of the post-graduation program in History of Unesp.
Also in 2007, História was no longer printed and it started to be spread only online, what allowed an increase of edition numbers. It is important to mention that not all editions were edited by Unesp publisher. The ISSN of the printed version was 0101 - 9074.
The aim of the journal is to promote the exchange among professors and researchers of History, to contribute to the spread of historical research accomplished by Unesp and other institutions, taking into consideration texts related to national and international historiography, theoretical-methodological issues in History Teaching. Also, to promote contact among researches of different institutions, national or foreign ones and to publish research results.
Its periodicity is biannual.
Its abbreviated title is História (São Paulo), which should be used in bibliographies, footnotes and bibliographical references and strips.
