INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS

Scope and editorial policy

The Revista de Sociologia e Política accepts original articles and bibliographic essays, giving priority to manuscripts whose main theme pertains to political practice of social agents.

Contributions from all the disciplinary areas of the Humanities and Social Sciences are welcome, whether in the form of theoretical discourse analysis, historical research, and especially, empirical research.

Manuscripts should be written in clear and concise language, whether in Portuguese, Spanish or English. Excepting special cases, articles and bibliographic essays must not exceed 30 pages.

Bibliographic essays must deal with theoretical and methodological questions of specific issues of Political Science, Political Sociology and related areas that deal with the political phenomenon, based on the analysis of some books recently published. Those essays must present the "state of the art" in some specific area (parties and elections; political behavior; ideological values; Political History; International Relations etc.); we suggest - but it is not strictly necessary - to consider both Brazilian and international literatures.

Decisions regarding the publication of articles and bibliographic essays belong to the journal's editors, through review by its Editorial Board or Consulting Board. Each article will be evaluated by two reviewers, who may: a) recommend its publication b) recommend publication providing that suggested revisions are made or c) reject its publication. Publication of articles recommended by reviewers is also contingent upon the journal's budgetary situation.

The editors reserve the right to suggest changes in format to the author in order to bring contributions in line with the magazine's editorial and graphic standards. All texts will be submitted to the authors for final revision before electronic publication.

Positions and concepts emitted in signed articles are of the exclusive responsibility of their authors.
