INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS

Scope and policy

Kriterion publishes articles in philosophy or which have philosophical relevance. It accepts the submission of articles in any philosophical field. The proposed manuscripts are submitted to the blind review of two referees. All published articles, including those published by faculty members of the Philosophy Department of the Federal University of Minas Gerais, are reviewed by experts, except when the editor invites some philosopher to contribute with an article to the journal. The current editorial policy of Kriterion is to alternate issues containing articles-among those submitted to the Editorial Board-on various philosophical topics and special thematic issues on specific philosophically relevant topics and fields.

Manuscripts' form and presentation

General Submission Guidelines:

a) Themes must be either strictly or generally related to Philosophy, with a critical or informative nature (such as the publishing of research findings).

b) Modifications and/or corrections suggested by Referees as to the composition (spelling, punctuation, syntax) or to the content of the submitted texts will be sent to the respective authors. A short deadline will be established for the corrections to be made.

c) Originals must be sent in two copies typed double-space, on one face of the paper only, to a maximum of 15 pages, containing 39 lines per page and 73 letters per line, or 43.800 characters, together with a copy on flexible disk. Quotations within the essays should refer to bibliographical references in footnotes. Essays can be written in Portuguese, English, French, or Spanish, and should contain an abstract in their original language. When written originally in Portuguese, the author should include an abstract in English. Just below the abstract, there should come from three to six key-words in Portuguese and English. At the end, there must come the bibliography used. Quotations and references should follow guidelines in ABNT.

The sending of manuscripts

Articles and essays should have a covering letter containing the following information: authors's names, their professional qualifications, the name of their institution, address, telephone number, and e-mail. Materials should be sent to the Publishing Committee.
